Padparadscha Tourmaline Earrings (Natural hotsell Tourmaline), 4.1mm x 0.26 Carat each, Round Cut, Sterling Silver Stud Earrings
These post earrings feature a pair of sparkling 'padparadscha' pink tourmaline gems set in sturdy four-prong sterling silver settings.
Among Asian gem dealers the term 'Padparadscha' is used to describe a luscious cherry blossom pink hue alive with salmon-pink and peach highlights. The term 'Padparadscha' comes from the Sanskrit word 'padmaraga', which refers to a colour that blends the pale pink hue of lotus flowers with the colour of sunset's orange glow. And that's what you have here: delightfully powder pink crystals containing a soft, simmering golden fire.
The tourmalines were ethically earth-mined under government license in the Kaduna region hotsell of north-central Nigeria. They're completely natural gems, meaning, that no laboratory heat or chemical treatment processes have been applied to them to enhance their natural colour or flawless internal clarity. As stated earlier their hue is something very special : a mid-to-pale cherry blossom pink, full of light, and alive with sparkling pale peach highlights. Both gems are well-matched for hue, colour, and cut, and both are externally flawless, displaying neatly balanced facet proportions and smooth unblemished surfaces.
Unset, each tourmaline weighs 0.25 carats and measures a fraction over 4mm in diameter x 2.5mm in height. Along with their sturdy four-prong sterling silver settings, each finished earring weighs 0.37 grams and measures 4.2mm (wide) x 16mm (long), with the length comprising 12mm of post and 4mm of solid silver crown. The settings are top of the line American designs, made in Michigan, with sturdy walls and slightly thicker posts (0.75mm : hard to bend).
Presentation for the earrings includes a hinge-lid gift box lined with colour coordinated Japanese Unryu papers. Unryu is a handmade designer paper that contains strands of plant fiber for colour and contrast - very pretty. Dressing up my jewellery for display and gift-giving is one of my favourite parts of the Etsy process.
