Adams JASPERWARE and STERLING Silver JUG Souvenir of town of Hove Silver depicts Town hotsell of Hove Coat of Arms c 1908 antique

A charming 1908 Antique Adams Cobalt Blue Jasperware Souvenir Jug with Sterling Silver collar at the top.

The pitcher has finely detailed white on blue bas-relief ornamentation of the coat-of-arms for English city of Hove. The Latin motto below the shield reads “Floreat Hova” which translates as “May Hove Flourish".
The Coat of Arms ornamentation is repeated on both sides of the pitcher. Interior is glazed.

Height: 5 1/4 inches (13.5cm)
Diameter : 6 inches including spout and handle (15cm )

Condition : Very Good Vintage Condition. No chips cracks or missing bits. There is a small scratch on the surface which shows as shiny against the matte finish. There is tiny white spec under the spout. There is a small crack in the silver collar where the adhesive used has degraded. See Photo.

Silver collar is hallmarked. Hallmarks are worn but appear to be right to left-

Near the City Brighton, Hove originated as a fishing village but was “discovered” and evolved to become a thriving Victorian resort town. Quality pieces like this jug were popular mementos for the well-to do.
