Kintsugi is a Japanese restoration technique, developed at the end of the fifteenth century. It is not only an artistic technique, but it also has very wide philosophical and hotsell psychological implications, which deal with our wounds, the ones of the soul, and with how we are able to be reborn every time, stronger and more unique.
Kintsugi is a slow technique, it uses the local urushi lacquer, it respects the time, and leads to reflection. It is a difficult and thorough task. When I am at my worktable my mind changes, slows down, I often work in silence, the table is different. My mind is different.
I operate on the piece with a breakage, an act that does not mean destruction, but creation; with the breakage I create a unique imperfection that becomes perfection, embroidered with golden threads in the lines of the fracture.
