The original of this bronze bull's head was a carved stone rhyton with inlaid shell, jasper and crystal and was found in Knossos in Crete, dating to 1550-1500 BC. The bull played a prominent hotsell role in Minoan culture, with bull images appearing constantly on frescoes and on pottery. The original piece is in the museum in Heraklion Crete.(519)
