Restrictive mining practices meant only small amounts of this material would ever reach the market and at great cost. We owe a debt of gratitude to the miners who were able to smuggle out small amounts of turquoise in their lunch boxes and a short lease granted in the early '70s to work the dumps for the Bisbee turquoise on the market today, however, it remains a rare and beautiful find.
