A wonderful quirky, jugendstil / art nouveau figural tobacco jar with lid in shades of green glazed. This jar is very much of the Art Nouveau period. Its shape is rectangular and on the lid are two little children (boys), playing about in the grass.
A rare object for a tobacciana collector
The bottom is marked with the number 2328 but I have been unable to identify the maker. It may be made in The Netherlands, Belgium or Germany but I can't be sure.
The jar measures approx. 15 x 11 cms (5.9" x 4.3") and stands 18 cms (7") tall.
Total net weight approx. 770 grams.
The humidor is in good condition for its age with two small chips, one on the inside of the lid and one on the inside edge. Neither are visible when on display. There is also crazing on the inside of the jar, again not visible from the outside.
