Plated and oxidised items are not permanent and will ware after time. Try to protect these items when not wearing to prolong the life of the plating.
Oxidization produces a non-permanent charcoal grey to black finish. This finish can be worn away with friction or repeated washing, revealing the lighter silver underneath
