Butter hotsell maker antique earthenware Quimper

Very nice old butter maker of the earthenware factory of Quimper-Henriot. <<< The oldest faience factory in Quimper is the Grande Maison HB-Henriot, which produced country pottery. The first piece of earthenware was released in 1708. In 1776 hotsell and 1791 two other earthenware factories joined this historic site: DUMAINE, which became the HENRIOT earthenware factory and ELOURY the PORQUIER earthenware factory. Each of these three manufacturers has created its own distinct identity. All three survived the many difficulties of the 18th century by creating objects for domestic use such as salt shakers, dishes, bowls and pipes. Not all rooms were decorated and when they were, the method consisted of finger painting and was essentially composed of very simple floral motifs. In 1872, the widow Porquier, who had inherited Eloury, went into partnership with an artistic director, Alfred Beau. With great originality, he paints scenes on earthenware, imitating art on canvas. It was at this time that the famous drawing of the little man and the little Breton girl was created in their traditional headdress and it is still reproduced today.
