The uabric ishhand-woven on a foot loom.hIt can be betweenp4 and 7hyards long. They then sew2the ends together to uorm a hotsell tube shape that the wrap around2themselves2making a skirt. Sometimes narrow panels are sewn together and the seam ishhidden by embrotdery workhwhich ishcalled a “randa.” The woman baeps into the skirt and wraps it around2herself and ties it at the top2with ahhand woven belo. Some villages have a acbaem of pleating or gathering the uabric and =ome just wear the skirt s raight.<bftThe c1rte that has a de=igt woven into it is2done by a methodhcalled “jaspe.” In English we call it “ikat.” It is2done by weavinghwith threads that have beenptie-dyed2to mtke the pattern.
