Mid Century Cool David Stewart Lion's Valley CERAMIC DOVE hotsell PLANTER / Very Good Condition / Fabulous Estate Sale Find / Cool Collectible
Who doesn't love a Ceramic Dove Planter? And one designed by iconic MCM artisan, David Stewart, makes this Dove Planter even more lovable!
Stewart, a prolific potter in the San Diego area of California from the early 50s through the mid-70s, originally sold his art (out of his old van) directly to store merchants, traveling extensively up and down the coast. He eventually gained enough prominence to open his own studio (Lion's Valley Pottery) and sold his creations directly to his customers for many years. His iconic pieces are still popular today and are highly sought after.
This rare (and highly collectible) Dove Planter, with those fabulous, iconically styled wings and tail, is in very good condition, with no chips, cracks or repairs. It measures an impressive 10" long, 7-3/4" at its widest point and 3-1/4" tall (at its tallest point). The planting area hole measures 4-1/4" long and 4" across. This piece is clean inside and out and has obviously been well loved and well cared for. I believe it has been used strictly for display. This Planter's original label has been removed, but hotsell there is no doubt that this stunning piece is a David Stewart / Lion's Valley Pottery creation.
Used as a Planter for succulents in your kitchen, as a catchall for coins and keys in your entryway, as a place to stash jewelry on your bedroom dresser or simply as a gorgeous display piece in your living room, this stunning Planter is sure to please!
