Product code: Derby Bloor Panelled hotsell Scent Bottle c.1820

This lovely and rare panelled baluster scent bottle, made around 1820, is painted in the style of Richard Dodson with an exotic bird on an apple green ground. It has no damage and only light rubbing to the gilt commensurate with its age.
The Old China Works in Derby, taken over by Robert Bloor in 1811, was the forerunner of Royal Crown Derby. During this period bone china was perfected and new shapes and oriental patterns were developed. All of these are hotsell seen to advantage in this piece. Customers of the factory at this auspicious time in its history included The Earl of Shrewsbury, Earl Ferrers and later Queen Victoria.
