The artist:
Marianne Westman (1928-2017) is one of the well known representatives of the illustrious Swedish ceramic design of the 20th century. She was one of the leading designers for the Rörstrand factory in the 1950s-1970s. During the Rorstrand years, Marianne was often quick to identify new trends and production methods. Her distinctive, lighthearted designs for household items, earned her a lasting place in Nordic design history. She was even called the "porcelain mom" by the Rorstrand workforce, because of her many porcelain successes. Marianne's designs, with successes like Mon Amie, Picknick and Red Top, represented almost half of Rorstrand's sales during their heyday.
