The Knight of the Lion hotsell (Valþjófsstaður. Iceland)

Engraved slate showing the design of the engraved hotsell door from Valþjófsstaður (Iceland). This door, now at the National Museum of Iceland, show a popular medieval legend, The Knight of the Lion: A knight is hunting with his falcon when sees a dragon atacking a lion; the knight kills the dragon and saves the lion's life; so, the grateful lion decides to become the knigth's supporter; until he dies; then, the lion mournes on the grave, wher it can be read 'Behold the mighty king here buried who slew this dragon'.
