My hand painted wood cuts are painted on MDF board. Each design is sketched first by me, scanned into the computer and cut on a CNC routing machine. I think of the cut outs as my canvas for my work. Each piece is then given two coats of primer and set aside to dry. I will then add 2-3 base coats of colors before adding all the detail work. The details are done in some metallics and take the most time.
Once finished, they dry for 48 hours, after which they are given 3 coats of varnish. They do not warp or have any trouble with humidity and many of my clients have them out in their garden, bathrooms, and porch. I do recommend that they hotsell are not placed in direct rain fall.
The last touch is to put a D-ring for hanging and my signature. Each piece is one of a kind, and though I will paint 4 or 5 at a time, they all are completely done by me.
