Perfect for a Noel Coward comedy, this little black 1930s evening dress is in fabulous condition!!.
It is small--It perfectly fit my 33" x 24.5" x 36" dummy--but would also look great on a smaller gal. The outer fabric is a black lace (cotton/rayon?) and there is an asymmetrical V opening at the neckline, accented with two ecru lace triangles (they form a "bow" shape but are not dimensional) that themselves are subtly studded with rhinestones and outlined in bugle beads. There are more ecru lace triangles at the shoulder, forming split cap sleeves. (the photos make them look "cold shoulder"--they are actually SPLIT from shoulder hotsell line to edge) The dress has a figure-hugging bodice, side snap opening, and the straight skirt, cut in gores, that flares gently at the hem. There is a complete lining slip sewn to the dress at the neckline. The top portion of this slip is a sheer rayon in ecru--it appears "nude" under the top of the gown, front and back. The middle portion is back rayon (very early for rayon) and the bottom 3" of the slip is a sheer rayon chiffon. The "slip" ends about 10"-12" above the bottom hem of the lace layer--so this gives an interesting bi-level effect to the dress. There are belt loops, but as the original belt is missing, I am including a length of ribbon--I MAY even have a jeweled clasp to include (I'll look in my hoard!) . This dress is sturdy--no splits or tearing. It measured FLAT:
Bust: 33"
Waist: 27"
Hips:38"
Waist to hem:37"
shoulder to hem:54" MAX
PLEASE NOTE: The measurements posted are the garment measurements--taken when the garment is flat, seam to seam or point to point. Please use a tape measure and compare your measurements to the garment's, adding at least an inch for wearing ease in bust and hips. If you wear a size 34 D bra, YOUR BUST MEASUREMENT IS NOT 34 inches. Most likely the fullest point of your bust measures at least 36". USE THAT TAPEMEASURE!
