Vintage 1940s Brass and Glass United States Post Office Mail Box Door Combination Lock Post Office Box Door Folk Art Box. A stellar looking vintage post box door in solid brass and heavy glass turned into a great folk art box. This piece is graded hotsell VG+ (Very Good Plus). The lock on this unit is not functioning so it can be shut and combination lock turned without fear of the door locking shut. The original combination was found with the box if someone chooses to repair the lock mechanism. The folk art box was most likely constructed much later on; most likely the late 1980s. The box is fairly constructed but not expertly made. The door fits very loosely into the routered grooves of the box, but comes out very easily (see pictures). The joints of this box show gaps and spacing. The heavy vintage original glass front panel of the door retains the original water decal numbers in white and red. This is a very handsome piece of USPS memorabilia. Dimensions: 11 X 7 X 7.
