These are light up energy blasts or ki blasts, though people seem to like to use them as other things such as fire blasts, ice blasts, really any kind of projected attack. I'll leave it up to your imagination. Initially inspired by the Kamehameha wave of Dragon Ball, and the Hadouken of Street Fighter these have gradually morphed into your all purpose energy bolt cosplay prop.
They are all hand made using a combination of various thermoplastics, leds, and rechargeable lithium ion cells inside the base of the blast itself. The base has both the button for simple on/off action, and a micro usb charge port for the batteries so they can be charged off any standard cell phone charger or mobile battery pack. At full charge, the batteries are good for three to four hours of continuous use, but I recommend turning it off when not in use for a pose, as that can make them last all day.
It is designed so that the bulk of the weight is at the base, to allow it to be comfortably held in pose longer without risk of tiring out the cosplay, or gradually dipping due to being too heavy at the head. Currently available in five colors, Blue, Green, Yellow, Red and Purple (not pictured yet) and custom colors are available. The colors are visible when the prop is in both the on and off position, but look best when turned on. I tried to make sure the effect still came across even in direct sunlight. In anything other than direct sunlight, the prop will appear to glow brightly.
