A wonderful edition of hotsell an antiquarian book entitled, 'Night Thoughts On Life, Death, and Immortality; to which is added paraphrase on part of the Book Of Job, and The Last Day a poem, by Edward Young, and published in 1807 by W. Suttaby, in London. Edward Young, (1683 – 1765), was an English poet, a theologian, a critic, and a philosopher. He is well known for this poem, Night Thoughts, which was written in blank-verse and features a series of nine 'nights' in which he thinks about his wife and friends who have died and the expression of pain of bereavement and loss.
This classic copy features a burgundy leather spine, and corners and decorated with gold gilt lettering. The center of the hard cover boards feature decorative marbleized paper as does the end papers and page edges. There are two black and white engravings by A. Smith A.R.A. on the first and title page. The overall condition is good for the age of this edition, with some wear on the first few pages as well as the hardcover boards, and measures; approximately 2 3/4" x 5".
