Product code: Berardius hotsell minimus

Berardius minimus is the newest beaked whale species to be recognized by biologists to date (09/2019). Found in the North Pacific, it is closely related to Baird's beaked whale. It's coloring is darker, it is significantly smaller, and the beak is shorter, but it does share the characteristic of males having four small teeth on the tip of the lower jaw.
My version of this "newbie" is carved from rescued hardwood, stained, painted with acrylics, and protected by clear spray. It measures about 9-3/4" long and 7" high by 3" wide. Mounted hotsell by dowel to a maple base, it is dated and initialed by myself.
This replica is based on photographs of the creature at sea and of beached specimen and features the sparse dueling scars and prolific bites from cookie cutter sharks.
