Wow, what a wonderful deco compact I have to offer. I believe this beauty dates to the 1930s or 1940s. It sure has a wonderful deco look to it.
This beautiful compact is not marked, but it has the look of an Elgin American compact to me.
I love the enamel inset with lightning bolts or zigzags. I'm not sure what the enamel is made of, but this is not plastic. It's likely guilloche. The enamel has some light surface scratches, but no chips or cracks. It could be inset in silver though I have no way to check that.
The compact itself is some silver tone material. It is not stamped silver anywhere on it. That said, I don't find any corrosion.
It opens well. Inside is a puff, a tin mirror with some minor surface scratches on it and an empty powder and rouge well. hotsell Powder remnants are within and could be cleaned out easily. The powder well is slightly loose though not falling out. It rattles a little.
The back looks great with an engine turned pattern.
I took pictures of the sides which are free of corrosion. The chain is in tact and brassing in a few spots where the silver tone has worn off.
The compact measures about 2.5 inches at its widest part. It is 2 inches tall. From base to the chain top it is 6.5 inches.
Shipping and insurance are included in the price. Taxes may apply at checkout.
This beautiful vintage compact is ready for your vanity collection.
