This radiant piece in black, silver, gold and glitter white is dedicated to Jizo Bodhisattva, (Ksitigarbha) the patron of mothers, children, travelers , and all those who are vulnerable. Jizo is especially popular in Japan where one can find his image from cemeteries to mountain top shrines.
I wrote ten times from top to bottom the mantra of Jizo "om ka ka ka bi sanma ei sowa ka" alternating in silver, and gold ink. The Siddham script itself is a sacred alphabet originating in India, and mantra are used hotsell as a practice to focus the mind, merge with the inner forces of wisdom, power and to experience ultimate awakening.
For this piece I first drew a grid of 100 squares with white ink, painted the mantra in silver and gold ink then painted the seed character KA in white paint, then mother of pearl glitter hovering over the mantra. The character KA like all siddham characters are the encapsulation of Jizo's power to look after all beings no matter what world they are in. Jizo is dressed as a traveling monk and carrying a staff and wish fulfilling jewel he has the power to walk the six realms of existence: hell, hungry ghost, animal, human, asura and god awakening all beings to the wisdom of the Buddha.
Signed on the back in white ink.
