Alas, I don't know very much about the provenance of this bowl, except that it belonged to my grandmother. I am guessing it is from the mid Twentieth Century. She served her famous Hungarian Cucumber Salad in it. After she died, my mother used it to display fruit. So I can tell you that it is both beautiful and useful and made in America.
The pattern is alternating flowers and starbursts with a scalloped edge. I think this is called diamond or brilliant cut, because it is sharply faceted and reflects light. It condition is absolutely perfect. I suspect it is rare.
The size is 10 1/2" diameter with a 5" diameter base and 4" of depth. It is quite heavy and therefor sturdy.
