1910s Edwardian Khaki Skirt Slip with Floral Embroidery // hotsell China Poblana Mexican Petticoat // Extra Large
This gorgeous skirt slip / petticoat is a bit of a mystery but I have an idea of what it could be. It features gorgeous hand-done embroidery at the bottom border and throughout the skirt portion depicting either sunflowers or thistles. The age of the slip is clearly older and appears to be from somewhere between the 1910s-1930s. The style of the embroidery looks to be Mexican to me, and I would guess from the age, shape, and style hotsell, that this would have been a petticoat worn with a China Poblana skirt. The China Poblana became known as the Mexican national dress for women in the early 20th century. Its origins are shrouded in myth and folklore, with many narratives stemming from the name, which was also applied to the beatified Catarina de San Juan, a 17th-century visionary brought to Mexico as a slave from her native India by Portuguese pirates.
You could wear it as a slip, or just as a skirt as it's so pretty.

* Waist: 36.5 inches - hook could be moved over up to an inch to make it smaller, but it can't go bigger
* Hips: 70 inches
* Length: 33.5 inches
Size: Extra Large.
CONDITION: Good, strong, and wearable with minor flaws to note. There are a few small woven mends (not to be confused with the pictured embroidered dots that appear throughout the skirt intentionally). I mended some of the seams, as they were open/loose - there may be some tiny areas with loose seams but I think I got all of them. A few small worn areas along the bottom hem. The hook at the waist would probably benefit from an additional hook being added below it just to stabilize it.
Condition Ratings:
Excellent: No noted flaws, or maybe one tiny one, and presents near-perfectly.
Very Good: One or more noted minor flaws, but still presents very well and the flaws do not detract from the overall presentation or wearability.
Good: One or more noticeable flaws that may detract from the presentation, or may need some work. Still fully wearable.
Fair: One or more large flaws that definitely detract from the presentation, and it may or may not be wearable. Might be a “project piece”.
Distressed: Similar to “fair” in that it has one or more large flaws, but different in that they add to a certain admired/wanted aesthetic, and still definitely wearable.
Poor: For study/salvage/display only, not wearable. Has many noticeable flaws and is likely fragile.
