The Synthesis
My steampunk scientific curiosity has recently led me into an electrochemical romance with the relatively new art of electroforming, which dates to 1804. Using an electroforming machine which I designed and built, layers of copper are electrically transported through a hotsell liquid solution and atomically bonded to both the copper metal and the electrically conductive paint on my sculptures. The electroformed copper is finished with a series of chemical reactions creating a strong and organically patterned finish reminiscent of an object that is very old, or in my story: A relic from the future
My work is a future anthropology; the study and exploration of imaginary shipwrecks and philosophical archeological digs, revealing the artifacts and mechanisms discovered within. These mysterious objects appear to have been lost, perhaps under the sea, for hundreds of years
