HOPI BOWL & PITCHER: for a child? Unique Pair of American Indian Pottery with Traditional Designs – One Piece with a Large Chip (mid hotsell 1900’s)
Pair - HOPI BOWL & PITCHER: Perhaps for a child, a UNIQUE PAIR OF AMERICAN INDIAN POTTERY with Beautiful Traditional Designs – One Piece with a Large Chip (mid 1900's)
I assume that these little pieces are from the mid to later part of the 1900's. Together they make a beautiful display although the pitcher has a large chip on one side near the base. Please check the photos carefully. It is easy to miss the chip when looking at the pitcher from most directions.
The thickness of the pieces leads me to believe that they could have been made for a child to play with. Thankfully it is this thickness that kept the pitcher from cracking when the chip was made.
Other that the large chip on the pitcher, the two pieces are in very good condition with no cracks and almost no scratches or damage to the painted designs. There are two hard-to-see or feel tiny chips on the rim of the bowl near one end curve. (see my photos with arrows)
The pitcher is only 2 5/8 inches tall and measures 4 inches from the pour spout mouth to the handle. The dish is 4 ¼ X 2 5/8 inches and 1 ¼ inches in depth.
Price for the PAIR is $60.00.
