A beautiful vintage handmade Swedish Orrefors Lead Crystal Craftsman Sculpture / Figurine called The Founder. The collectible art glass figure features a Founder working at a metal furnace with a long handled spoon and is beauitfully observed. His muscular physique reflects the hard physical Foundry work in hot conditions. Designed by Olle Alberius. hotsell Made from high quality lead crystal. The crystal Orrefors sculpture has the faded red and cream label saying "Orrefors Sweden" and is engraved with the initials “of”. The red label was only used on First Quality items.

The Swedish crystal design is stylish, innovative and modern. The Founder is one of a collection of figurines from Orrefors in crystal, made in the mid 1980s. The craftsmen figurines represented in the collection were Glass Blower, Chimney Sweep, Blacksmith, Chef Cook, Shoemaker, Tailor Weaver, Carpenter and the Founder. Make the basis of an interesting collection. The design is retired and the Orrefors Glassworks has closed, so hard to find in this excellent condition.

The Man with Long Handled Spoon measures 12 cm (4 1/2 in) high, 14 cm (5 1/4 in) wide and 6 cm (2 1/2 in) deep. Weighs 480 g (1 lb 1 oz).

This Orrefors Founder is in excellent vintage condition with no cracks, chips or visible scratches. The item has been carefully looked after and is a pre loved item. Please view photos.

Orrefors glassworks or Orrefors was based in Orrefors in Småland, Sweden. Orrefors manufactured crystal glassware and art glass. The range consisted of crystal stemware, barware, vases, sculptures and crystal lighting products. They employed many skilled glass craftsmen and were influenced by other European glass works. Orrefors was a part of the Swedish glassworks group Orrefors Kosta Boda AB. The Orrefors glassworks were founded in 1898 on the site of an older iron works. Sadly closed in 2012. Info from Wikipedia.
