Product code: Dandelion seeds in the breeze - Majolica hand painted ceramic oval bowl - hand made pottery gifts - - hotsell The Last Days of Summer

An oval footed bowl made from red earthenware and glazed with a white tin glaze. Hand painted dandelion seeds and autumn leaves drifting in the breeze, titled The Last Days of Summer. A tribute to autumn and fall. A season that I miss living in Florida.

It was the last days of summer that inspired this bowl. Dandelions going to seed and leaves starting to change. Yes, even here in Florida the changes are subtle but still there. The heat of summer is getting less in the mornings, the day getting noticeably shorter. A waiting the days that the air conditioner be turned off and the windows opened. On this bowl I did a bit of slip trailing, which is wetted down clay put in a plastic bottle with a nozzle for the "slip" to "trail" through. This gives the bowl a pleasing tactile surface. This is a one of a kind.
Bowl, oval, shallow, hand painted, majolica, clay, terracotta or red earthenware, to sit on your coffee table or set out with treats. Would be a beautiful addition to your bedroom or bath decor.

Dated and signed at each stage as it was made, by myself.

size 7.75" x 5"x 2.25"

Each piece of pottery is made in my front porch studio. Though small I make it work, but I make in stages. I fill a bisque kiln with green ware, raw dried clay. Once the greenware has gone through a bisque fire and removed from kiln the studio is cleaned up as I prepare to hand dip each piece. I can only dip as many as I have room for, so I may dip a part of the bisque ware at the time and as pieces are finished with painting and put in kiln in wait for the glaze fire, I will then glaze more. When the kiln is full I glaze fire this takes approximately 10 hours plus time to cool, because I like to warm up everything for about 6 hours before raising the temps.
I use materials that are food safe, you may want to hand wash as I cannot guarantee their outcome in a dish washer.
