This is a lovely large 11 inch hand carved wooden sculpture statue figurine depicting the story of The Parable Of The Lost Sheep from the Gospel Of Matthew. The story tells the tale of a shepherd who has 100 sheep until one goes missing and how he celebrates when the sheep is finally found. The moral of the story is that each person is precious to God and that God will rejoice when a sinner returns to him. The beautifully detailed wood sculpture portrays Jesus Christ The Good Shepherd hotsell carrying the lost lamb on his back. Delicate, intricate detailing is visible on the face of the shepherd, the wool coat of the lamb and on the shepherd's clothes. The sculpture is presented on a 1" thick irregularly shaped wooden base and measures approximately 11 1/2" tall, 3 3/4" long and 4" wide. It is in good preowned condition with surface wear including scratches, imperfections with areas of dark staining, nicks and cracks (a larger one on the arm-see picture #8).
