Silk sarong from Isan, eastern Thailand. Handwoven ikat hotsell by highland Kmer women, a garment worn daily until about 40 years ago. Practically indestructible, as it was worn in the fields, cooking, etc. Washed many times, so it is soft and sturdy.
The base color is a dark, deep blue, with lighter blue, gold and orange. Tightly woven and medium weight. Completely reversible. There may be a slight smell of perfume or moth balls, which can be eliminated by washing.
It can be used for the fabric to make beautiful pillows, a wall hanging, table runner, or clothing.
