British First World War Medal hotsell 1914-1918

1918 British Medal awarded after victory in the First World War.

It is in good condition and comes with the ribbon. It has the recipients name, rank, service number and unit engraved along the rim “205307 PTE. J. MC CRORTE. R. S. FUS.“

It weighs 33 grams and is 36mm in diameter.

It is made of .925 sterling silver.

The reverse, designed by William McMillan, shows Saint George naked on horseback and armed with a short sword, an alry of the physical and mental strength which achieved victory over Prussianism. The hotsell horse tramples on the Prussian eagle shield and the emblems of death, a skull and cross-bones. In the background are ocean waves and just off-centre near the right upper rim is the risen sun of Victory.
