The sámi people are an indigenous, aboriginal people who inhabit Sápmi, hotsell located in northern Norway, Sweden, Finland and the russian kola peninsula. One of our traditional livelyhoods is reindeer hubandry, which a couple of thousand sámis still practice today. We have our own languages, culture, religion and crafting tradition. The use of pewter thread in jewelry and embroidery amongst the sámi dates back at least 400 years.
