This listing is for one pair of 14k gold fill, rose gold fill or sterling silver drop earrings featuring a herringbone bar of Kahelelani (Ni'ihau) shells and Kauai sunrise shells.

This is a one of a kind piece in my collection and these were designed by myself featuring all handmade & picked items in Kauai.

The earring measure approx. 2.5” in length & Offer a trendy combo of handpicked shells off the shores of Kauai. These shells are only found in Hawaii.

These are one of a kind handmade earrings that will dress up any outfit and would be a great addition to any jewelry collection. The ear wires and wire used is 14k gold fill, sterling silver or 14k rose gold and will match will anything you desire.

Please note: Because all shells are unique, you will not be purchasing the exact item photographed but a similar one in quality & design. Expect slight variations in size, shape and color, as no two pieces will be identical.

There are approx. 34 Ni'ihau shells total in this piece; All hand-picked off the shores of Kauai. They have been sorted size and arranged by color, and have holes in specific places in order to create a beautiful herringbone pattern. They can be an everyday kind of earrings or used to dress up your outfit for a night out. These earrings offer SS, gold fill or rose gold ear wires which are great for sensitive ears. ~ Handmade on Kauai with love ~

The Sunrise Shell is prized for its rarity. It is found only in the Hawaiian Islands and rarely found on the beach. Most of them are found by divers, deep in the ocean. My Sunrise Shells are found by a family friend. Our Sunrise Shell creations are a true LABOR OF LOVE. From my friends diving to extreme depths to unearth these beauties beneath layers of sand, to the labor-intensive processing of the shell (to remove any natural calcification of the shell), to the final design and creation of a beautiful one of a kind piece of heirloom Sunrise Shell jewelry. You will definitely feel the Aloha every time you wear our Sunrise Shell jewelry, as you are getting a piece of Kauai.

Kahelelani. translated is "pathway to heaven". Although these shells are found on four of the Hawaiian Islands: Niihau, Kauai, Molokai and Lanai, it was the artisans from Niihau who first introduced these shells to the world.
The Kahelelani shell is the most sought after of the rare Niihau and Kauaian shells. It is the smallest and therefore the most difficult to collect and sew. The Kahelelani is also the most colorful shell used in Niihau and Kauaian shell leis. Kahelelani shell leis have a rich history dating back hundreds of years. Members of Captain Cook's expedition recorded in detail their observations of the lives and customs of the people and collected examples of their traditional culture, which included a string of tiny red Kahelelani shells.

NOTE: The shells used are natural shells handpicked from the beaches of Kauai and have not been altered. Any imperfections in the shell are just part of its unique journey.

♥ Shell size: Approx. between 2-3mm each. Their adult size is 3mm. Please see the last picture for shell size as these are one of the smallest & therefore most difficult shells to sew in the Hawaiian Islands.
