Sungka game filipino made in america large wooden board stained rustic golden oak solid pine cowie shells for playing pieces fun family time activity played in usa philippines indonesia all over the world similar to the west african game called mancala many different styles this one is plain with 14 pits and two banks 32 by 9 inches in size homemade draw string cloth carrying bag for playing pieces instructions come with it originally designed and is rustic expect flaws such as natural knots and small cracks imperfections in the wood make it especially yours and no one elses an opportunity to add your own personal art work on its surface
there are a number of variations in the rules as to how to play Sungka,
the following is my favorite
rules name pronounced Sooonkah it is played on wooden block two rows 7 circular holes and two large holes called heads at both ends begin with 98 game pieces shells marbles pebbles river rocks or seeds 7 pieces in every other hole except heads which remain empty sungka requires two players each player controls the 7 holes on his side of the board and owns the head to his right the goal is to get as many pieces in your own head player 1 removes all pieces from the hole on the left on his side then puts one in each hole to the right of that hole omitting an opponents head but not a players own head if the last piece falls into an occupied hole then all the pieces are removed from that hole and are distributed in the same way to the right of that hole in another round this players current turn ends when the last piece falls into an empty hole on the opponent's side of the last piece distributed falls into a players own head then the player earns another turn which can begin at any of the seven holes on his side
if the last piece distributed falls into an empty hole on his side then
the player captures all the pieces in the hole directly across from this one on the opponents side and puts them plus the last piece distributed in his own head if the opposing hole is empty no pieces are captured the other player chooses which hole he wishes to start from removes the pieces and distributes them one in each hole to the right of that chosen hole if a player has no pieces on his side of the board when it is his turn then he must pass the game ends when no pieces are left in any hole on both sides of the board the players count the number of pieces in their own head and whoever has more has won the game this game with variations is also played in other southeastern asian countries such as indonesia hotsell and malaysia where it is known as congkak have fun and thank you for visiting LooseChipsWoodWork.etsy.com
