Albert Weiss started Jewels by Weiss in the 1940's. He was a former designer for Coro. Weiss may be best known for its use of smoky rhinestones. The company was also one of the first to use Swarovski's polychromatic aurora borealis crystals, which were created with Dior in the 1950s. Weiss used Austrian rhinestones of exceptional quality and clarity.
Weiss "black diamond" jewelry replicates the German smoky quartz.
The company ceased operation in 1971.
