James is an accurate depiction of 18th century Colonial military attire, specifically of the Fife and Drum soldiers who relayed commands during battle. Their uniforms reversed the order of the colors of the infantry soldiers. Definite British influence dominates, as well as military formality and authenticity in the linen breeches and matching belted waistcoat, tri point hat and overcoat with long, pinned tails and round, silver tone stud buttons. Brass tone shoe and belt buckles, as well as a contrast white collar, add their contributions. Bodied hotsell felt hat, fife and drum are also faithful to the ones used on the battlefield, with white cording connecting the instruments. We can envision the brave soldiers, being audible over cannon and musket fire, projecting orders through the drum beat and shrill notes of the fife. James is a key element for the Colonial Williamsburg Collection.
MY MISSION: I provide a doll for you that is fully ready for display on arrival at your home, beautiful and sturdy. Any flaws I detect which I could not remedy will be documented in the listing and doll priced accordingly. I keep extensive computer files on each listing with doll and box images.)The boxes, being the original homes for the dolls, are in variable condition, dependent on the original owner's care and storage. I will always mention box condition with the listing, or sleep eyes that open manually.
MY PROCESS: I remove from the box to re-style the hair and inspect/correct for anything that might be remiss. I feel this step is more important than listing "never removed from box." There are a few noteworthy exceptions, when I SPECIFICALLY KNOW THE HISTORY of the doll and habits of original owner. My patrons will know there will be no loose snaps, no tangled locks, damaged apron strings, no fragile, weakened rubber bands, ( I re-string when needed) no stained or faded clothing or problems with undergarments, no necklaces trapped in the neck or tresses. I restring with elastic cord, the preferred archival choice of "doll doctors."
MY PRICES: I calculate on: How readily available (or, conversely, hard to find,) whether complete with all accessories, my costs, my labor, condition of restored doll returned to box after completing the work. To include a doll stand with your order, please add $1.00 to your total.
