Raku hotsell fired house

The Raku fired houses are inspired by basic architecture, but also the feeling of safety and comfort my own home provides.
These are hand built hotsell from stoneware clay slabs. The openings are cut differently on each house so each is one of a kind.
The Raku firing which is done outdoors promotes the cracking of the clear glaze and unique patterns on each house.
When the kiln has reached the melting point of the glaze, it is removed from the kiln and placed in a container of combustible materials such as paper, sawdust, pine needles where it ignites the materials. The container is then covered to stop the burning and allow the house to cool.
This house is 3.5” x 5” and 5 inches tall.
