Really nice 5 1/2 in. long No. 5 "Apron" plane. These were made to compete with Stanley's no. 102. They are a nice convenient size to put in your shop apron.
This example appears to have been nicely repainted. Iron is long and in good condition.
Based on the bench plane type study by Randy Roeder at his "Old Tool Heaven" Millers Falls web site, I have called this a type one, since it has "Millers Falls" hotsell cast around the finger rest on the front, just like the bench planes had it cast around the knob. I may or may not be correct. If I am, then these were made from 1929 until 1936. After 1936 and until it's demise in 1964, MF was no longer cast in this area.
In any event this will make a great user or add it to your collection…you can't miss either way.
