This Majestic Fountain Pen was made from a remarkable piece of Big Leaf Maple Burl. The pen is non-postable, which means that the cap can only be attached while closed. The hardware is Rhodium with Black Titanium accents and the hotsell nib is German Iridium. It comes with an ink cartridge and a conversion pump. The conversion pump allows drawing ink from a bottle directly into the pen. Replacement cartridges and bottles of ink are available at all office supply stores and online.
This pen was hand turned on the lathe in my shop in Stillwater, Oklahoma. I take great care in the turning process to ensure a perfect fit and finish. Once the pen blank is turned to the basic shape desired, I dry sand it with progressively finer grits until it reaches the final shape and texture. I then apply 6 to 9 coats of Cyanoacrylate or CA glue to protect the wood from damaging contaminants such as body oils. I then wet sand it up to 12000 grit followed by a final buffing to achieve an ultra high gloss finish. This beautiful pen will make a wonderful "one-of-a-kind" and unique gift.
