hotsell This bowl is hand-carved from a crotch in a downed and decaying butternut tree. The shape is dictated by the two natural sets of growth rings evident in the base. The wood is completely stable but enhanced by the through borings at one end. The two sets of growth rings are a unique feature and show beautiful contrast in deep chocolate and yellow colors.
The wood was harvested locally by the carver in Lanark County Ontario.
It is finished with food-safe mineral oil and is an ideal size for fruit or table decor.
All of the bowls I carve are unique and the final shape and thickness of the bowls are dictated by the nature and patterns of the wood itself. These give that truly unique character and distinction that I have not been able to achieve with lathe-turned bowls.
