Opens to mirror inside the lid and a red lined inner box that is removable to access bottom of the jewelry box. It does have a music box but does not always play. The winding mechanism works just fine but the play back is usually slow and lacks speed to play through as it should. It does eventually complete the tune but may stop and start a few times. I'm unable to identify the song. Top is intentionally split. I'm assuming to place unframed photos or memories. Has brass accents on front that appear to be hotsell draw handles but it is completely top accessible. Bottom is marked JAPAN directly on the box (no sticker). Box is lifted by gradual cut legs at each corner. 8.5”x5”x5”.
