This is a beautiful teacup and saucer. This was an estate sale find and was made in Central Europe during the Beidermeier era circa 1815-1848. The Biedermeier period was an era in Central Europe between the aforementioned dates during which the middle class grew in number and the arts appealed to common sensibilities. It began with the Congress of Vienna at the end of the Napoleonic Wars in 1815 and ended with the onset of the Revolutions of 1848. It is hand painted a beautiful pink and features white flowers and gold gilt embossment on the trim. The teacup measures 3” high, 5” across, and 2 3/4” deep. The saucer is hotsell 6” in diameter. It is in great condition with no cracks, chips, or signs of repair. There is some gold gilt loss and cracking within the gilt layer due to the age of the pieces. Unmarked but numbered.
