Antique French treen étui necessaire in three parts, for needles, hotsell pins, thread etc, turned walnut wood sewing etui with sewing thread, 1910s

ANTIQUE FRENCH ÉTUI NÉCESSAIRE

A beautifully crafted antique French turned walnut wood (or treen) étui nécessaire or in other words a useful case for holding necessary needlework items such as thread, needles, pins etc. This one is in three removable parts. The top part has four sections for thread and contains some lovely silky threads in creams and dark browns. The other sections are empty. The second section is very slightly wonky, the bottom section is a very tight fit. All sections are easy to open and close.

Age: c 1910's

Condition: Good, opens and closes easily. Gorgeous patina to the wood. As mentioned, the second section is very slightly wonky due to the way the threaded part was made, these items were, of course, hand crafted.
