Here is a set of hotsell fabulous pristine place cart holders made by Commodore in the 1940 1950's.
The ceramic cuties are hand painted and were manufactured in Japan After the end of World War II.

They measure 2” in height and 1 1/4” in width. Each porcelain figure has a slit in the back to hold a place card.

In pristine condition, there are no cracks chips or flea bites even their paint looks fabulous. They don't appear to have ever been used.

I do have three sets listed separately so if you are having a big dinner and you need up to 24 place cards I've got them.
