This listing is for a pretty vintage Murano style "geode" art glass bowl or dish. This blown and molded glass bowl was most likely made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy in the 1970's. The piece is not marked but is similar to the work of several Venetian manufacturers, including Archimede Seguso, Galliano Ferro, and Cenedese. The bowl was created using the sommerso or "submerge" method made famous as a result of the work of Archimede Seguso. The piece has a core of green glass submerged and encased in an orange amber colored glass, creating the visual effect of a gemstone geode. It also has a cool fiery glow to it. The bottom of the bowl shows the "pontil" mark where the steel blowing rod was attached to the glass. This has been ground and polished glossy smooth indicating superior workmanship. The small bowl measures approximately 3-5/8 inches by 3-1/4 inches and stands 1-7/8 inches high. The bowl is in excellent used vintage condition with respect to age and use. It has no cracks, chips, or repairs. There are some very minor surface scuffs and shelf wear on the bottom and some light tool marks on either side. This is a very nice and beautifully colored little piece of vintage Murano style art glass.
