This is an authentic and original illustration titled “abstract landscape” part two. You are viewing a textured, colorful, earthen painting of local landscape sighted on residential property in the artist (myself) neighborhood in Bethesda, Maryland. In order to provide a comprehensive review of my work at BehindtheSCbyJessica, I like to share details about subjects illustrated, both in series and those that are one of a kind. This particular painting portrays an abstract perspective of actual layered landscape. Many return private patients, clients and residents all throughout the Washington metropolitan area who know my work, including past colleagues and affiliates, are very familiar with my personalized preferred pattern and technique when thinking “outside the box,” intentionally crafting and recreating a scene to resemble a visual depiction different than the original photograph. As an artist, writer and having invested in a longtime career in mental health without traditional social media and apps my
entire career as a certified dementia specialist, certified psychotherapist, self taught artist and writer, it's an honor to
share the rewards and many mental health benefits of my personal choice to invest in a successful career, “my life without social media, beginning in 2007." You will read more about my entire career in my biography and site, including the history of my successful career prior to designing an internet platform for my existing private patients, clients and residents all throughout the Washington Metropolitan area from inside and outside of many assisted living facilities and communities. With intent to engage, establish and maintain loyalty and trust with those who visit my site, I like to remain personal and honest with my private patients, clients and residents. The reaping benefits and visually stimulating cognitive experience I create in my illustrations are a continuum of my specialized work. Included is the authenticity of each artwork along with my descriptive narrative. When recreating abstracts, you will learn there are intentional surprises hidden objects within to explore and “hunt and pursue discovery “ ultimately leading your attention and focus in identifying the visually stimulating elements within. It's recommended to set yourself up in a private uninterrupted space, and if need be, have “guided assistance,” in helping you study my work while simultaneously working on self care. The sporadic random hidden features within represent the natural rough terrain of landscape design. I recommend studying the textured patterns, colors, both regular and the ones that have impressive sheen complimenting the design. It is obvious the upper half dominant with greens, appears to represent shadowy figures and shapes. This was my objective to leave it up to the imagination for viewers, readers, buyers, private patients, clients and residents the ultimate visually and cognitively stimulating tour and therapeutic experience. When analyzing the details within, Its also important to focus your attention on the sequence. My advice is to commence viewing the painting from top to bottom. Appearing as if there is a sequence of layers, patterns, and details representing the earthen landscape elements within. For example, Proceeding the upper green abstract shadows, there is much gray, black, white, beige, copper and silver, intentionally painted applying thicker amounts of paint, almost appearing rugged, and “caked,” in areas I wanted to emphasize complimenting the “abstract theme,” all the while maintaining the natural landscape effect. There are obvious areas where the paint reflects a natural sheen with copper, bronze and silver infused on the layers of rocks and stone. To better clarify the centralized area in my painting, I would like to communicate it is my abstract recreation of the actual layered stone wall situated on the residential property the original photograph was taken. Additionally, for the record, to help visually guide and assist you when studying my work, is that not all the gray, black, white silver and beige in the middle is exclusively rocks and stones, but also there are areas of water you won't identify as obvious when viewing. Without my guidance of hints and cues and helpful clues, it would be very challenging to identify the obvious. At the same time, reiterating this is a personalized preferred technique and signature trait of mine, known by many who've studied my authentic work for years, including private patients, clients and residents. Those who are repeat and return visitors to my site for a one on one “non invasive, uninterrupted cognitive assessment and mental health break." Beneath the centralized area depicting abstract layers of stones, rocks and water, you will see larger textured patches of lighter cream colors with hints of beige represents other rocks appearing to be boulders and quartz stone. The original photograph I took portrays the landscape itself as seen in “real time,” with rocks set in place which helping contribute to the sturdy structure of the layered stone wall. Above the stone wall is the green grass with natural shade and the lower area is terrain with healthy ground soil mixed with natural earthen elements. You will also see smaller finer details such as grass patches throughout the entire painting created in pencil. I used this technique to distinguish the features in clarity helping the viewer see the softer elements within the textured painting. The lower half is the terrain recreated with a sheen of mixed blended paints of copper, green, and darker golden tones. There are also lighter shades of creams and beige representing the lighter almost “bleached by the sunlight,” areas of dried out grass. The darker dried out grass and foliage has copper textured leaves sporadically scattered and larger lighter colored stones in different sizes.
Phase one was the initial graphite sketch. On quality mixed media and graphite I sketched the dominant feature first and foremost, the layers of rocks and stone wall prior to the other elements within. I made sure to focus on accurate depth perception and shading, so I intentionally penciled in the area with lighter and darker shades to help distinguish the elements within. hotsell Maintaining my abstract theme, I penciled in the shadows you will see hovering over the centralized stone wall. The bottom half you will see the terrain with mixed grasses, rocks and foliage. Phase two was the transition to color. With green, black, beige, cream, gray, copper, gold, white, and bronze I penciled in over phase one. This transition always helps visually guide my attention and focus on the details and varied elements within. Phase three was the application of acrylic paint. With the same colors used as in phase two I blended and applied intentional thicker amounts of paint complimenting the landscape scene at times appearing “caked in and rugged.” This technique was intentional as I wanted to portray the natural beauty of the entire scene while simultaneously helping the viewer study the abstract earthen theme. The sheen of colors and paints provide the viewer a chance to explore the landscape through a different perspective helping discover the features within. Upon completion I sprayed it with clear fixativ sealant to prevent any damage or “bleeding of the colors.” The authentic and original painting is available for purchase in print. This would make for an ideal housewarming gift or simply be a nice addition to an existing collection. Please enjoy, Jessica Ahmadi
