This wonderful clay pottery bottle/jug come from Birresborn Germany and I believe is from the late 1800's from my research. It was made to hold mineral water from the Eifel region of Birresborn and is marked on the side as follows: Mineral Brunnen, Birresborn, in der Eifel. Brunnen means Fountain and Eifel refers to hotsell the mountain region of that area. The bottle is also marked N4 on the side as well. I wasn't able to get a good photo of the mark, so get one as on as soon as possible. The corks in this piece fits perfectly, however I am guessing it is not the original since it is such an old piece. It is such a lovely piece to display and enjoy and I just love these old earthy pottery pieces.
